Inscriptions on both sides (only partially seen, as always) - Mohamed / Shah / Badshah / Sikka Mubarak ("Mohamed Shah Emperor, auspicious coin") // Zarb Elichpur. Elichpur mint. 21mm, 18.24 grams. KM#B430.1; cf. Zeno 119862.

Excellent coin, very attractive, thick and heavy, much nicer than these usually are.

The later Mughal bronze coinage is very difficult to understand, as there are multiple weight standards and the coins are poorly made and thus difficult to attribute and date. Furthermore, too few coins remain, and their study is thus difficult. The weight of the bronze dams of Mohamed hovered around 20 grams, but some of the coins are lights, weighing as little as 14 grams. It is unknown if they represented a different denomination ("paisa"?), or the debasement of the original 20 gram dam, is unknown.
